Bike Tour Moselle-Saar-Sauer

This beautiful circular tour is located in the Moselle region and also takes you to the rivers Saar and Sauer. Roman history and wine culture are of course the big themes, plus you'll get to know a piece of Luxembourg and have a lot of fun on a ride on the chairlift in Saarburg. This bike tour along the Moselle, Saar & Sûre is also suitable for the inexperienced.

Day 1 Arrival in Nittel
Your tour starts in the wine village of Nittel, situated directly on the Moselle. Rental bikes will be brought to the hotel the next day.

Day 2 Nittel - Irrel, ca. 40 km / 25 mi
First you cycle along the Moselle and cross it in Oberbillig by ferry (not included). Then you follow the Sauer in its partly canyon-like valley on the German side, using a former railway line and tunnel.

Day 3 Irrel - Wasserliesch, ca. 45 km / 28 mi
Today you cross the border at Echternach, which is considered the oldest town in Luxembourg. A medieval fortification, a basilica and a magnificent market square invite you to linger. Along the Sûre, now on the Luxembourg side, you will return to the Upper Moselle, which will guide you to your destination in Wasserliesch.

Day 4 Wasserliesch - Schweich, ca. 45 km / 28 mi
Soon you will reach the oldest city in Germany: Trier. Here you can follow in the footsteps of Roman history. In any case, you should plan enough time to visit the Porta Nigra as well as the amphitheater. Via Pfalzel you will reach Schweich.

Day 5 Schweich - Saarburg region, ca. 45 km / 25 mi
Near the striking Ferry Tower you cross the Moselle and cycle along the south bank to Konz. Here you follow the Saar upstream to Saarburg with its impressive old town, castle ruins and waterfall.

Day 6 Saarburg region - Nittel, ca. 40 km / 25 mi
A chair lift takes you and your bike up to the top of the hill, where you can enjoy beer instead of wine at the Mannebacher Brauhaus. Through fields and meadows you return to your starting point.

Day 7 Departure or extension
